Video lesson on Solar and Lunar eclipse for class VIA.

Image
The theory lesson on solar and Lunar eclipse was done in the class on Saturday. As I started to explain, children were not able to image the rotation of earth and moon around the sun that causes the solar and Lunar eclipse. On that contrary, I decided to take them to the ICT lab to run them further from what I have explained to them. There was a huge gap between the theory and the video lesson children can sort out the thing far more better than the theory given to them. I took almost two day the causes of solar and lunar eclipse. I make sure to ask them question to check their understanding and for every question there was a huge silence. What I have uncovered today after the video lesson is, the teacher must be prepared enough to handle their learning mode with various strategies that suits learners' need. They have better understanding from the video lesson as it contains all the movement of the sun, moon and the earth accordingly.  The most interesting and take away forever was...

Presentation on kinetic energy and potential energy by 6A.

Image
On 7th of November, my students of class VI were given a   PowerPoint presentation  project   on kinetic and potential energy. The above presentation were prepared by the students in groups.  Each group were asked to prepare a presentation for  about three minutes  and there were so many interesting clips and pictures included in their project work. Given a chance, children will surely come up with many interesting facts on the content given to them.  Actually we were supposed to have this presentation on October, however managing projector for the presentation is always a challenging task owing to one and only projector in the primary campus. I was shocked to see that children are performing better than teachers in preparing ICT presentation. Thanks to Bhutan Government for introducing Code monkey which have  motivated our youths and enabled them to rethink on their learning platform. In order to further enhance their...

On 8th of November, with no other option, I showed my children a you tube video on the topic Visual Discrimination of shapes. Before the video, as an introduction lesson, I took them out of the class. I placed the L-shaped  wooden block and placed on the ground. Then I let them to look at the object from the different angle specially from right, left, front, back and mostly from the top view of L-shaped block. Then I asked them to draw their observation.  Keeping their observation as full confidential, I showed them the you tube video from my laptop. Although not in the ICT room with spacious and large screen, nonetheless, children had so much of excitement when there is integrated ICT learning environment in the classroom. Despite of being unlucky on that day for not being able to use the project, I managed to connect my mini woofer to give them clear conversation that is being used in the you tube video which makes them fun to listen to the intonation and gestures. Most of t...
