Video lesson on Solar and Lunar eclipse for class VIA.

Image
The theory lesson on solar and Lunar eclipse was done in the class on Saturday. As I started to explain, children were not able to image the rotation of earth and moon around the sun that causes the solar and Lunar eclipse. On that contrary, I decided to take them to the ICT lab to run them further from what I have explained to them. There was a huge gap between the theory and the video lesson children can sort out the thing far more better than the theory given to them. I took almost two day the causes of solar and lunar eclipse. I make sure to ask them question to check their understanding and for every question there was a huge silence. What I have uncovered today after the video lesson is, the teacher must be prepared enough to handle their learning mode with various strategies that suits learners' need. They have better understanding from the video lesson as it contains all the movement of the sun, moon and the earth accordingly.  The most interesting and take away forever was...

Presentation on kinetic energy and potential energy by 6A.

Image
On 7th of November, my students of class VI were given a   PowerPoint presentation  project   on kinetic and potential energy. The above presentation were prepared by the students in groups.  Each group were asked to prepare a presentation for  about three minutes  and there were so many interesting clips and pictures included in their project work. Given a chance, children will surely come up with many interesting facts on the content given to them.  Actually we were supposed to have this presentation on October, however managing projector for the presentation is always a challenging task owing to one and only projector in the primary campus. I was shocked to see that children are performing better than teachers in preparing ICT presentation. Thanks to Bhutan Government for introducing Code monkey which have  motivated our youths and enabled them to rethink on their learning platform. In order to further enhance their...

Video lesson on 8th November for class II students.

Image
On 8th of November, with no other option, I showed my children a you tube video on the topic Visual Discrimination of shapes. Before the video, as an introduction lesson, I took them out of the class. I placed the L-shaped  wooden block and placed on the ground. Then I let them to look at the object from the different angle specially from right, left, front, back and mostly from the top view of L-shaped block. Then I asked them to draw their observation.  Keeping their observation as full confidential, I showed them the you tube video from my laptop. Although not in the ICT room with spacious and large screen, nonetheless, children had so much of excitement when there is integrated ICT learning environment in the classroom. Despite of being unlucky on that day for not being able to use the project, I managed to connect my mini woofer to give them clear conversation that is being used in the you tube video which makes them fun to listen to the intonation and gestures. Most of t...

On 8th October, shown by the link one, I conducted quiz test for mathematics in class 4.To have smooth functioning of the test, I prepared a pre-test quiz which is attached as pre test paper against the link below. After the pre-test, I warned my children to be careful for the final quiz test on 8th which will be recorded as class test's mark, although my intent of the test was to familiarized the ICT lesson through test forms. Although 22 of 29 of them could turn up for the test with lots of difficulties and I kept on extending the time set. However, challenges were uncountable as they were doing such kind for the very first time. We as a team must say that the learning was overwhelming because many student who could not open the link, could slowly opened up and submitted their quiz although late. Later in future, I want to keep trying similar kind of online work until my children are to the position of at least attempting without any issues. Pre-Test: https://docs.google.com/fo...
ICT 419: ICT lesson in teaching and learning. On 11th Oct, I prepared my lesson through ICT integration as part of my BPST observation that goes to my blog post too. The topic of my lesson was based on the data analysis done through google form test. Based on the data collect, I decided to focused on the three weaker areas of the lesson that was below average. 1. Removing of hardness from the water 2. Acid and base 3. Solute, solvent and solution. The first thing I did was I have shown them their performance on the google form test. I decide to provide them the detailed notes with simpler sentences for removing hardness of water and acid. For third point on solute, solvent and solution, I make sure that they listen through the you tube video, so that children enjoys and pay their attention out of joy for the animation. The I let them attempt the question written on the chart and played the name wheel for their names to run down avoiding teacher's pinpointing. Overall, lesson went ...

Children now a days are given better exposure through ICT integration to the latest curriculum. Although, scenario doesn't seemed so welcoming as parents lack the foundational knowledge of ICT. However, there is rapid progress seen comparing to few years back. Despite of  limited ICT resource room in schools, children are fond of going to ICT class and love fiddling to computers. Though, my lesson on ICT was not for the kids to fiddle around, but I prepared some simple animation in my slide. Firstly, they were excited to see words sliding one another. Secondly, there was a YouTube video on measurement which made them more curious on how to measure certain things using the standard and non-standard...
